Stump Grinding in Inwood, WV

Reclaim the Spot That Stump Took

That old stump in the middle of the yard is the thing you mow around, the thing the kids trip over, the eyesore you’ve meant to deal with for a year. We grind it down below grade and give you the spot back — ready for grass, a garden, or just open lawn. And we do it the way you want it done, because we walk the property with you first and talk it through before anything gets scheduled.

More Than an Eyesore

What That Stump Is Costing You

Left alone, a stump doesn’t just sit there. It rots, and rot draws termites, carpenter ants, and fungi that can move on to the healthy trees nearby. Some species keep sending up new shoots you’ll be cutting back for years. It’s a tripping hazard for kids and pets, and it holds a piece of your yard hostage — space that could be a garden, a patio, or a place for the grass to grow. Grind it out and the problem, and everything it invites, goes with it.

How You Want It After

Three Ways We Handle the Stump

We do stump work three ways, depending on what you want the spot to look like once we’re done.

grind and go

We grind the stump down below grade and leave the chips on-site as natural mulch. This suits homeowners who want the stump gone quickly and don't mind using the wood chips in the yard themselves.

grind and haul

We grind the stump and take the mulch away with us, leaving a clean spot behind. A good fit if you want the area clear and don't have a use for the chips.

grind, seed, and straw

We grind the stump, seed the spot, and cover it with straw so the grass fills back in over time. Best for the middle of a lawn, where you want the ground to blend back into the yard.

How it Works

Simple, Honest, No Surprises

1. Reach Out

Call or message us and tell us what you're looking at. We'll set up a time to come out that fits your week — evenings, weekends, and short notice all count. We ask that you be home for it, because this part is a real conversation, not a drive-by.

2. We Walk It

We come out and walk the property with you, look at the tree or the lot, and talk through what's actually possible and what it would take. You'll hear a straight recommendation from someone who's seen your situation a hundred times and will tell you which way to lean.

3. Clear Options

You'll get three options, each with its own price, plus a written estimate sent by text or email. Nothing is decided in the moment. You see exactly what each path costs and what it gets you before anything moves forward.

4. We Get It Done

If one option is the right one, we schedule it right there — and once it's on the calendar, you don't have to be home for the crew. We finish the job, clean up behind us, and leave the site better than we found it.

our promise

We Stand Behind The Work

Every job we do carries a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If something’s wrong when we’re finished, we’ll make it right — no argument, no runaround. Tree work is the kind of thing you hire once and want done right, and we’d rather earn the next call than cut a corner on this one.

Where we work

Rooted In The Eastern Panhandle

We’re based in Inwood and work this stretch of the Eastern Panhandle and northern Virginia every week — Berkeley and Jefferson counties in West Virginia, and Frederick County across the line in Virginia. Being local isn’t just about a short drive. It means we know what the weather here does to a tree over a season. Freeze-and-thaw winters loosen root systems, summer storms come through fast and heavy, and ice loads test every weak limb a canopy has. A tree that looked fine in July can be the one you’re worried about by February. Because we’re nearby, coming out to walk your property is easy, and getting back after a storm doesn’t mean waiting on a crew from three counties over. If there’s a tree on your mind, reach out and we’ll come take a look.

Common Land-Clearing Questions

Do I need to be home while the crew works?

Only for the first visit. We ask you to be there for the walk-through, because that’s when we figure out what you want and what it costs. Once the job is scheduled, nobody has to be home — the crew handles the clearing while you go about your day.

That’s your call. We handle stumps three ways depending on how you want the spot to look: grind it and go, grind it and haul the mulch off, or grind it, seed it, and cover it with straw so grass grows back in.

That’s exactly what the on-site walk is for. We go over the property with you, talk through what the space is going to be used for, and give you a straight recommendation. You leave with three options and a price on each, no obligation.

Neat. We leave every site better off than we found it, so instead of slash piles and torn-up dirt you’re looking at open, usable ground — ready for whatever you had in mind for it.
